Target August 29, 2012

Chris and the boys went out to the Nome Home on Saturday to let us girls have the house to ourselves (working on his husband of the year award).  Caelum was scooting around on the little play horse:

“Horseys don’t have wheels!”

“No, they don’t,” replied Grandma Sugar.  “Where do wheels come from?”

“Target!”

Abigail said that Caelum loves to play pretend shopping at daycare.  He will take his cart and walk around saying, “I’m going to Target.  Getting oatmeal and bananas.”

Our secret is blown.  We are a family of Target addicts.

Tea and Cowgirl Cocktails August 28, 2012

We celebrated Shannon’s English Tea Party bridal shower and Cowgirl Cocktails bachelorette party on Saturday.  Two of her other bridesmaids, Mary and Danielle, came up from Minneapolis and Nebraska, along with some of Shannon’s coworker friends from Bismarck.

fascinating ladies

Everything went wonderfully, and I think everyone had a great time, even wearing their fascinators at the tea party!

The two month countdown is on, and I’m so excited for all the festivities (and also a little bit excited to have the stress of it gone.)  But then what will I have to focus my energy on….?

Family Mix August 24, 2012

A fun afternoon and evening yesterday.  Fr. Brian Bachmeier, my spiritual “brother,” came to visit in the afternoon because he was in town for a wedding.  We were able to hang out and visit, and he stayed for dinner.  Mom also stopped by for a little bit to get some goodies from the garden for Saturday’s bridal shower.  Then Logan came for dinner and to stay the night because he had an appointment in the morning.  Halfway through the night Shannon also called and visited with both me and Brian about some wedding planning, so the only one missing from the mix was Dad!  It was a family-filled night with good cuisine, company, and conversation.

Do They Have a Potty, Mama? August 23, 2012

Potty training is moving along!  The “accidents” are very frustrating, but overall we do see progress.

I went to Target last night after picking up the kids from daycare.  I reminded Caelum probably 10 times before we got in that he had to tell me if he needed to go potty.  As I was pushing the cart waaay over by the grocery section, he tells me he needs to go potty.  EEK!  I told him to hold it as I rushed back across the store to the bathroom.  The last thing we needed was an accident in the cart in the middle of Target.

But… he held it the whole way and went on the toilet!!  I’m so proud.

When It Rains, It Pours August 22, 2012

I love being busy, but it always all comes at once.  Squeeze into one week a birthday, a visit from Brian, an overnight stay from Logan, a bridal shower, and a bachelorette party – and what is there left for the rest of my month?!  Looking forward to Labor Day for a vacation day and hopefully a restful weekend with the family.

Popeye and his doppelganger

It is Chris’ 29th birthday today.  I was up at 6 a.m. in the kitchen beating eggs and brewing strong coffee to make his surprise tiramisu.  I figure we will go out to eat somewhere tonight, then come home and surprise him with dessert.  Hopefully the boys behave at dinner!

Lake Time August 20, 2012

Spent the weekend at Lake Minnewaska with the kids and Tom, Stephanie, & Dominic Drietz and Bryan & Sarah Barts.  Kind of some crazy times with the kids and trying to potty train Caelum, but it was a lot of fun overall.  Drank lots of good wine, ate lots of delicious food, enjoyed a bonfire and dominoes, and even got to spend some time on the pontoon, even though it wasn’t super hot.
